Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is typically used to treat certain types of cancer, primarily skin cancers and pre-cancers like actinic keratoses. It also treats other conditions, such as acne, rosacea, and skin aging.  This is the medical application of the device.  Non medical providers will use it for age management of wrinkles, skin texture and tone, acne, sundamage, stimulate hair growth,  painful joints and wound healing.
 
The infrared light from PDT promotes wound healing, while the red light stimulates collagen production.
